CHRISTMAS AT THE REKINDLE INN BY LORI WATERS

Title: Christmas at the Rekindle Inn

Author: Lori Waters

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Pages: 212

Publisher: Wild Rose Press

SYNOPSIS:  Mary Walker has a habit of giving in when it comes to her mother, but this time her mom went too far.  At first glance, the gift seems innocent. Seven days at a lovely Vermont inn in mid-December is Mary’s idea of the perfect Christmas present – that is until she discovers her traveling companion’s identity.

The Rekindle Inn is the last place J.T. Walker wants to spend his Christmas vacation; much less in the company with the woman who’d recently ripped his heart to shreds.  A challenge of wills, and the need to show Mary he no longer cares, has him on the plane to Santaville faster than the time it takes to unwrap a candy cane.

The Rekindle Inn specializes in mending relationships, but when the Walkers check-in, it will take more than a little Christmas magic to bring these two broken hearts back together. More like a Christmas miracle.

REVIEW:  I loved this story. Mary is as stubborn if not more than, her soon to be ex-husband J.T. They don’t communicate with each other and that is a lot of their problem. They both won’t give an inch and find themselves at the Rekindle Inn and Mary is in heaven. She loves Christmas and all the decorations and the little town that is there. They are both on a strict schedule and have to stick to it. They both agree because they do some of the things separate.

They both start to relax and enjoy each other’s company again. If anything JT and Mary would like to remain friends. They have a few weeks before the divorce is final and they both think this week will be a waste of time but decide to enjoy it.

JT has noticed that Mary’s eyes don’t have the sparkle like they used too. He wanted to see her happy again. When they go snowmobiling and Mary gets hurt, JT takes care of her and realizes that he could lose her forever not just as his wife. He is going to do whatever he can to get her back. Things are going great and they make love. Mary tells JT she hasn’t been with anyone since him.

When the end of their stay comes, David arrives to pick up Mary. When she gets JT’s phone by accident there is a message from a girl that Mary has thought JT was having an affair with all along. She leaves with David but breaks up with him because she has already given her heart to JT and no one else will be able to have it. David is so full of himself he says she will regret this decision and anyone will be happy to have him. She wishes him well and then decides to have a talk to her mother. She has let her mother tell her what to do for so long she decides to stand up to her.

JT does the same to his dad and finds out that his dad has always been proud of him. That isn’t how it seemed to JT and he tells his dad he is going to do everything he can to get Mary back. Read this story to see if JT and Mary get their Christmas miracle and rekindle the love they had for each other.

I highly recommend this story.

She doesn’t believe the intruder and since everyone has evacuated do to the storm she has no one to get help from. Kellee needs Egan to help her sort through all this information. She is on overload and doesn’t want to deal with either her dad or the mob boss.

I really liked this story. Egan was true to his word and found Kellee and protected her. Kellee has always had a thing for Egan and now she is old enough to be able to act on it. Read this story to find out what happens between Egan and Kellee. Also what happens to the Russian mob boss?

I highly recommend this book.

A SLOW BURNING DANCE BY RAVENNA TATE

Title: A Slow Burning Dance
Series: The Weathermen Book #5
Author: Ravenna Tate
Genre: BDSM, Erotic Romance, Sci-Fi, Futuristic
Pages: 123
Publisher: Evernight Publishing

SYNOPSIS:  When Sela Chavez inspects the unit in a strip mall that will soon become her very own dance studio, she’s on the cusp of a dream come true.  Until she spies Damien Rivera, her brother’s boss. She knows he’s financing the project, and she knows he’s a player.

When he invites her to a concert, she can’t seem to look away from his gaze. But gorgeous eyes or not, she has no intention of becoming Damien’s next conquest.

Damien is part of a group of friends financing the efforts to put a stop to The Madeline Project.  The program now has a mind of its own, thanks to a virus called Tommy Twister.  These men have power, resources, and money, but they’re as ruthless and possessive as the storms ravaging Earth.

They call themselves the Weathermen.

REVIEW: Sela has dreamed of owning her own dance studio and her dream is about to come true. The one problem is Damien Rivera. He is a sexy, hot man and also her brother. She knows he is a player and wants to stay far away from him.

Damien can’t believe his eyes when he sees Sela all grown up and looking great. He talks her into going to a concert where her favorite band and his will be. He has a private seating area and she loves it. She can’t seem to stop looking at him. She is so turned on by him she starts to become aroused. He watches her and gets so turned on.

This story has more than just erotic romance though. There is a mystery that the weathermen are trying to solve and when Damien looks closer the foreman on the mall job looks like he is involved someone. Damien has Sela’s brother fire him and then they start having problems at the mall. When Sela is in her unit trying to get ready for the opening, a bomb explodes and Damien runs to her rescue. He won’t let her out of his sight. He realizes that she is the one for him. Like I have said in previous reviews when the Weathermen fall they fall hard and fast.

I liked this story. It was great to see another Weatherman finds his mate. I loved how they both were so adventurous and you could tell Sela loved it as much as Damien did. There were some BDSM elements and it brought out another side to Damien. The story of the weather project is also getting more interesting with each book. The one thing I didn’t like was how the book ended so abrupt. I thought there could have been a little more time given for the two to fall in love and then for Damien to pop the question.

I highly recommend this book.

TEMPTED BY A KISS BY ANNA DURAND

Title: Tempted by a Kiss

Author: Anna Durand

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Pages: 38

Publisher: Wild Rose Publishing

SYNOPSIS Mel Thompson just dumped her cheating ex after two years together.  Now she’s determined to understand the allure of casual sex by having a steamy fling of her own at a notoriously raunchy underground club.  When her best friend, Adam Caras, catches on to her plan, he makes a surprising offer to derail her.  If she wants a hot fling, he’ll give it to her.

Who better than Adam, renowned lady-killer, to demonstrate the erotic pleasures of a one night stand?  Sex could ruin their friendship, but after a soul-searing kiss, Mel fears one night may never be enough.

REVIEW:  Mel and Adam have been friends for years. They are actually best friends. When Adam catches on that Mel is going to try and have a one night stand with a random stranger he decides that he will offer himself instead. He has a surprise planned for Mel and she goes along with him. He persuades her for just one kiss to see if they could have the one night stand. That one kiss ignited a fire in both of them that they could hardly wait to get to Adam’s place and rip each other’s clothes off. Adam loves hard and is everything that Mel would want in a man. She finds that one night isn’t enough. They both love each other and decide to give their relationship more of a chance.

I really liked this story. Usually short stories can be too rushed and short for a better word. I think that the author took her time to develop the story between the two characters. They had the history of being friends and obviously Adam had strong feelings for Mel longer than she knew. He was waiting until she dumped her cheating boyfriend before he made his move. Once he set his sights on getting her there was no hope for Mel. She was a goner.

I highly recommend this story.

ECHOES OF THE PAST BY EMMA KAYE

Title: Echoes of the Past

Series: Lobster Cove
Author: Emma Kaye
Genre: Paranormal Romance, Time travel, Witches
Pages: 153
Publisher: Wild Rose Publishing

SYNOPSIS: In 1692, Isabeau Munier cast a spell to flee Lobster Cove and escape burning at the stake for witchcraft.  Instead, she’s trapped by a curse that tosses her through time whenever she attempts to leave the small town.  With her curiosity shop and Great Dane familiar, Isabeau has finally found her place in time.  When her landlord’s sexy nephew moves in, she thinks she may have found Mr. Right as well.

Grayson Wright’s intrigued by the beautiful Isabeau, but a friend’s accusations make him worry Isabeau took advantage of his beloved uncle.  Gray’s determined to learn the truth, even at the risk of losing his heart.

Can Isabeau prove she’s not the gold-digger Gray fears and that her love for him is true?  Can Gray learn to trust his heart, which tells him Isabeau’s the perfect woman for him? Or will Isabeau’s curse take the chance away from them both?

REVIEW: Isabeau is a witch from another century and instead of escaping Lobster Cove and being burned at the stake. She is trapped in Lobster Cove but just jumps through time when she tries to leave Lobster Cove. Fortunately for her she meets a great guy named Stan Wright. He is always there for her when she turns up in different times. She actually sees the guy grow to a young man. Now however he has passed away and his nephew Grayson has come to see about his uncle’s affairs including the house and the shop Isabeau rents out.

Grayson is skeptical about Isabeau and with the help of a family friend, Sherri he thinks Isabeau has taken advantage of his uncle and he wants to find out the truth. Grayson moves in to the house where Isabeau has an apartment and slowly gets to know his uncle and Isabeau. He finds himself thinking about her and wanting her. Isabeau is trying to keep Grayson from finding out she is a witch so she offers to help him clean out the attic.

In this process they start to fall for each other. Isabeau hasn’t had any male companionship in many years and is afraid to let her guard down but sharing living space as well as a bathroom can be a little tricky.

When Sherri goes into premature labor, Isabeau tries to help and Sherri won’t have any of it. She calls the ambulance and goes to the hospital where the husband and Grayson have showed up. Grayson is torn between his heart and his brain telling him to believe in Isabeau.

He goes to chase after her and she disappears before his eyes. He finally starts to believe the rantings of his uncle and knows he loves Isabeau and has to get her back.  He searches for the book where is uncle kept all the spells and he has Sherri help him perform the spell. He hopes it isn’t the last time he sees Isabeau. After Sherri recites the chant she is exhausted and needs rest. Grayson doesn’t know if it worked so he waits to find out. Read on to see if Grayson and Isabeau get their happy ending.

I really enjoyed this book. I am usually not one for the time travel but it wasn’t the focus of the book and it had to be shown at times to keep the story moving along. I like how Isabeau is a witch but she is a good witch and sometimes it is hard for people to understand there is always good and bad in everything. I also liked Grayson being so concerned about his uncle being taken advantage of but also how he had a huge heart and wanted to believe in Isabeau and the love he felt for her.

I would recommend this book.
