Review for Text Me by Erin Bevin

SYNOPSIS: When Erika’s ex becomes her boss less than a year after dumping her by text, she gets desperate to find a date to the corporate Valentine’s dance so he doesn’t suspect she still has feelings for him. Though not a fan of texting for the obvious reason, she doesn’t have much choice but to tap the keypad in order to gain the attention of the only viable candidate from the classified ads. Grayson made the mistake of listening to his brother a year ago and has regretted what he did to Erika ever since. But his brother’s next suggestion just might be his salvation when he takes out an ad for a Valentine’s date…and Erika answers. Using a pseudo name and keeping contact to text messages only, Grayson’s plans to make Erika fall back in love with him appears to be working…until the date of the dance draws near, and she pushes a meeting—face to face.

REVIEW:  This was a great story. Erika was broken hearted the way Grayson had dumped her by a text message. He knew after he did it that it was so wrong. He shouldn’t have listened to his brother. Now he has the chance to make it up to her. He is going to be her boss now and she couldn’t be more disappointed. She likes her job but won’t be able to work under Grayson. She decides to make up a boyfriend for herself. Now that everyone knows she has a boyfriend she has to find one for the night. Grayson learns of her boyfriend and decides he needs to find himself a date too.

He wouldn’t want to show up alone. They both turn to the newspaper personal ads. Grayson places an ad and Erika calls him. He figures out very early on that it is Erika that is texting him. He just has to figure out a way to let her know it is him. This could back fire in his face but he wants to be with her.

This is a nice short story. I like the fact that even though Grayson had second thoughts about being in a relationship with Erika, he soon discovered the mistake he made and wanted to get her back. He would do what it takes to get her back. Erika is still in love with him too.

Review for Saddle Up by Marie Tuhart

SYNOPSIS: At loose ends after her best friend's wedding, Angie Davidson needs a vacation, so when the gorgeous yet aloof co-owner of the Quick Silver Ranch insists she stay to explore their sexual attraction, she agrees. Though she eagerly bows to his commanding touch in the bedroom, Jared's distant air after lovemaking sparks too many bad memories. Dare she yield to his sexy persuasion and prove he has nothing to fear or will he abandon her like everyone else in her life? Eager to explore Angie’s vulnerable, submissive nature, Jared plans two weeks of toys and other naughty play. However, the last time he reached for to a woman—mentally and physically—she rejected his dominant streak. Jared has no intention of letting Angie that close, no matter how sweetly she shivers beneath his hands. Can two bruised hearts discover a way to make their tantalizing escape into the perfect way of life?

REVIEW:  Angie has always been in control of her life including her sex life. She doesn’t want to have that control. She wants a man to take control and please her in so many ways. She also wants a man to stay with her. She has been abandoned so many times starting with her parents and foster homes. Also boyfriends never stayed around. She struggles with those feelings but knows she wants to explore with Jared.

Jared on the other hand has never met anyone that could love him for who he was. He was a dominant and he liked being in control of the women in his life. He hasn’t met that right woman for him, until Angie comes to the ranch and seems that she wants what he has to offer. So they have 2 weeks to explore their desires. He isn’t going to get involved or emotional. This is just time for them to play and enjoy each other.

The title of this book is very appropriate because once Jared says it the play time is to begin. Angie has agreed to it and does everything Jared asks of her and more. He loves how she welcomes all the new experiences he is giving her. When the end of their time is near Angie realizes she is falling for him hard. She tells him she loves him and he walks away from her. Jared is so stunned he doesn’t know what to say. Angie leaves and after she is down the road she pulls over and cries. She goes back to work and decides she is going to go fight for her man. She will not let him off the hook so easily. This story was exciting and very suspenseful. I never knew what Jared was planning for Angie each day and I liked being surprised by him. He owns the Quick Silver Ranch to help couples with their sexual fantasies and he knows how to play Angie’s body like a pro. I loved Angie being so strong to let Jared take control of her body. She was nervous and maybe a little shy in the beginning but she knew Jared would protect her. She could trust him completely. Jared loved that about her. He had never been happier than when he was with Angie.

My entire body burned from the inside out. I tried to tell myself it was from the hot shower, but I knew better. Trent had worked me up back at his house without even touching me. Just knowing his naked body was under the spray and slicked up with my soap gave me goose bumps. When the water turned off, I grabbed the first book I found on my end table, opened it randomly, and pretended to read it as I sneaked glances at the bathroom. I’d missed the shower exit in my haste to grab a decoy…darn it. Trent stood at the sink, running his fingers through his tousled, wet hair. Water droplets trailed down his damp torso as if they were in a race to get to the promised land. I’d had my mouth on the appendage hidden beneath the towel slung around his hips. I remembered his taste, the subtle hints of salt and man. My knees knocked together under the blanket. That sexual experience with Trent was the most unique I’d ever had. Every evening since that night, I’d dreamed about it, used my vibrator while reminiscing over and over again. Trent turned toward the opposite vanity near the shower, dropped the towel, and reached for something. Oh, my word. Trent had the finest bum that had ever graced my vision. And surprisingly enough, it was just as tan as the rest of him. I bit down on my lip, thinking I’d rather be biting down on his firm ass cheek. Heat rose through my chest, up my neck, and I placed a hand to my flaming face. As he bent over, I stifled a moan. Instead, I closed my eyes and did some yoga breathing. I heard the water at the sink turn on and the distinct sound of teeth being brushed. Continuing my mini-meditation, I chanted internally. You cannot have sex with him here. You cannot have sex with him here. You cannot have sex with him here. “Gumdrop, I already told you we don’t have to do anything you’re not ready for. And if here is a problem for you, we’ll improvise.” He turned off the bathroom light and walked to the empty side of the bed. Oh, sugar! I might have said the chant out loud. Heat blazed across my skin. I continued the measured breaths, attempting to calm down. “I know.” I couldn’t help checking him out as he stretched his arms over his head. Trent wore nothing but a pair of tight red boxer briefs. His package looked huge behind the thin cotton. He pushed back the coverlet and slid into the bed. Thank God it was a California King or his large form wouldn’t have fit. The man took up far more room than I did. “I used your toothbrush.” He grinned devilishly. Of course he did. I glanced sideways. “Did you tell me that to annoy me?” He snuffled and rubbed his warm nose into my bicep. He slung an arm around my waist and did something I wouldn’t have expected from a man like Trent. He snuggled into my side. Literally wrapped his body around mine until he was comfortable. I, on the other hand, became hot, in every sense of the word. Temperature and desire were warring against one another for top bidding as he adjusted himself like a cat circling around until he’d found just the right spot. A little twitch here, a poke there, a heavy thigh covering my much smaller one there, and—voila!—he stopped moving. Finally. I thought I was going to have to smack him with my book to get him to settle down. Jeez, it reminded me of Mary and her fidgets. “Comfy?” I whispered. He hummed from where his head lay on the pillow and my arm. “Very.” I huffed and tried to inhale a few relaxing breaths. It didn’t work. I was too wired up. It had been three long years since I’d had a man in my bed, holding me, finding comfort in my body. I loved it and hated it at the same time because I knew it wouldn’t last. “How’s your book?” he asked, a hint of laughter in his voice. Without even glancing at the book, I responded, “Good, good.” “Do you normally read books upside down?” Sure enough, when I scanned the details of the black letters on white paper in front of me, they were all upside down. Busted. “I just started!” I nudged him. Trent sat up, grabbed the book, and tossed it on the end table. “Enough. I’m beat. You must be after teaching and everything else today. Now kiss me, woman, so I can go to sleep.” “What?” I shoved my face as far back as I could so he came into better focus. He narrowed his eyes and grinned. “You heard me, gumdrop. I want my goodnight kiss. Give it up.” “Are you serious?” I held the blankets tight to my chest. “As a heart attack. If you don’t give it, I’m going to take it.” I scowled. “You wouldn’t.” “Try me, babe. Try. Me.” I didn’t want to try him. I wanted to kiss him goodnight. It seemed so…normal. I haven’t had normal in a long time. “Fine!” I made it sound like it was such a chore. He didn’t care about my shenanigans, and what was better, he met me halfway. When our lips met, the fire that raged just under the surface blazed white-hot once more. The kiss was wet, deep, and blistering in its ability to take me from zero to sixty in a mere second. Trent kissed me with long flicks of his tongue, hard presses of his lips, as if he’d never stop. I never wanted him to. Before long, he was on top of me, lying between my spread thighs, his upper body braced on his elbows, one hand squeezing my breast, and the other holding my face still so he could devour me with slow, devastating kisses. I rubbed my leg against the back of his good thigh, pressing his hardened shaft tighter to my body. That move earned me a growl and a lip nibble. “Damn, gumdrop, want to take you right here, right now, but I respect you too much to go against your wishes.” Trent eased to my side, rolled behind me, and tugged my body to his, my back smashed flat to his front. He pinned one of my legs with his own, shoved a hand across my waist and up between my breasts. “Hold my hand, babe. Want to feel you close while I sleep.” No sweeter words had ever been said to me. I was so screwed. In that moment, as Trent kept me close within the confines of his safe embrace, I fell a little in love with him, even knowing he could never truly be mine.

Alison Brodie is a Scot, with French Huguenot ancestors on her mother’s side of the family.  Alison was a photographic model, modelling for a wide range of products, including Ducatti motorbikes and 7Up.  She was also the vampire in the Schweppes commercial.
A disastrous modelling assignment in the Scottish Highlands gave Alison an idea for a story, which was to become Face to Face.  She wrote Face to Face as a hobby and then decided to send it off to see what would happen.  It was snapped up by Dinah Wiener, the first agent Alison sent it to.  Three weeks later, Alison signed a two-book deal with Hodder & Stoughton.  Subsequently, Face to Face was published in Germany and Holland.  It was widely reviewed, ie:  “Vain, but wildly funny leading lady.” -Scottish Daily Mail.  It was also chosen as Good Housekeeping’s “Pick of the Paperbacks.”
Unfortunately, Alison then suffered from Second-Book Syndrome.  The publisher’s deadline loomed and she was terrified because she didn’t have an idea for a story!  She found the whole experience a nightmare; and this is why she cautions first-time authors to write more than one book before approaching an agent.  She managed to finish the book – Sweet Talk – but it bombed.
While writing Sweet Talk, she moved to Kansas and lived there for two years.  She loved the people, their friendliness, their free-and-easy way of life, the history and the BBQs!  Sadly, her visa ran out and she had to come back to the UK – although her dream is to one day live permanently in America.  Now, Alison lives in Biarritz, France.
Alison has taken the exhilarating steps to becoming an indie author.  Her second ebook, THE DOUBLE, is out on Amazon Kindle with some great reviews.  “Excellent.” –San Francisco Book Review.
Alison writes contemporary romance.  She aims for a strong plot line, set against the background of a world-changing event, coupled with touches of humour, sexual tension and character transformation.
She loves to hear from her readers.
